What is a magnetic dispenser?
A magnet dispenser removes disc magnets from a stack one by one, without your fingers getting caught between the magnets. The diameter of the dispenser is a maximum; you can adjust the height by changing the slider.
Short answer: a magnet dispenser is a holder that lets you slide round disc magnets off a stack one by one. You place the stack in the dispenser and push the top magnet out with a slider. This way you do not have to pry strong magnets apart with your fingers, they do not snap together and the coating is damaged less. You choose a dispenser by the diameter and thickness of your magnets.
The Magnetenspecialist dispensers are our own design: 3D-printed and handmade. The blue slider is interchangeable and can be ordered separately.
Why are small neodymium magnets difficult to separate?
Neodymium magnets attract strongly for their size. A stack of twenty Ø10 x 3 mm discs (approx. 1.6 kg holding force each) cannot simply be pulled apart, and separated magnets jump back unexpectedly. As a result, fingers get pinched, the coating is damaged or a corner breaks off. A damaged coating is the start of rust; see why do neodymium magnets rust?
How does a magnet dispenser work?
- Place the stack of disc magnets in the dispenser.
- Push the magnet out with the blue slider.
- Take the magnet and place it in your product.
The benefits at a glance
- Safer: your fingers do not get between the magnets.
- Faster: one movement per magnet, without prying.
- Less damage: fewer chipped corners and damaged coatings.
- Less strain: you need less force for repetitive work.
Customers who use the dispenser tell us that handling magnets becomes noticeably easier, especially when they place dozens or hundreds of magnets in a row.
Which dispenser do you need?
- Diameter: this is a maximum. A dispenser for Ø15 mm can also be used for smaller disc magnets.
- Height: choose the height that matches the thickness of your magnet. If you have a different thickness, swap the slider.
All dispensers are in the Magnet dispenser collection. For Ø10 x 3 mm disc magnets, for example, the dispenser 3 mm, Ø10 mm is the right choice. You can order a separate slider via our contact form. The magnets themselves are in our disc magnets; which size you need is explained in which disc magnet should you choose?
Who is a dispenser useful for?
- assembly and production, where many magnets are placed per day (see magnets for assembly and production)
- packaging, displays and magnetic closures
- model making, hobbies and 3D prints with built-in magnets (see magnets for 3D-printed applications)
- anyone who regularly has to separate a stack of small magnets
Frequently asked questions
Does every disc magnet fit in every dispenser?
No. The diameter of the magnet must not exceed the maximum diameter of the dispenser, and the height of the slider must match the thickness.
Does the dispenser also work with N52 magnets?
Yes. The grade (N35 to N52) does not matter for the fit; the dimensions do.
Is a dispenser also suitable for block or ball magnets?
No, only for round disc magnets.
Is a dispenser also useful for small quantities?
It mainly helps with many magnets in a row. With an occasional few magnets, the difference is smaller.
